Description	:	Marion Ruth Swartz, 82, was born July 6, 1918 the daughter of James and Ruth (Frary) Kennedy in Lee County, Iowa near Donnellson. She attended school in Keokuk and graduated from Keokuk High School. After high school she attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri for one year and Western Illinois University in Macomb for one year. She then taught country school in Lee County for over three years. On May 30, 1941 she was united in marriage to Richard Roland Swartz in Keokuk, Iowa. Marion is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann Jones and her husband Gerald of Carthage; two sons, Daniel Lester Swartz of Kansas City, MO and Richard Roland Swartz and his wife Ena of Carthage; one daughter in law, Becky Swartz; 6 great grandchildren, Cassie, Brittany, and Leanne Jones and Kalean, Isaac, and Caleb Tanksley; also one sister in law, Pearl Kennedy of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Jim in 1995; 2 brothers, Frank and Kermit Kennedy and one sister Lucille Lockhead. Marion was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Carthage; the Carthage V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #5117; D.A.R. Chapter Shadrack Bond; Carthage Womens Club and was active in the Carthage Senior Center. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Chruch in Carthage, Illinois, on Sunday, Feburary 11, 2001 at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor Jonathan Heikes officating. Interment in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Keokuk, Iowa. Services by Neiser-Printy Funeral Home. (from Marion's funeral card)
