Read More	The following is from the Meagher County News, Thursday, November 2, 2000: MARION "MAC" SIMS MACKAY September 12,1909 - October 27, 2000 Marion "Mac" Sims MacKay passed away at his home in Mesa, Arizona on October 27, at the age of 91. He was born September 12, 1909 to Dr. Daniel McHeffey MacKay, Jr. and his wife, the former Lucy Holt, in Fishtail, Montana. When Mac was a young boy, his family moved back to White Sulphur Springs where his Dad and Uncle Edward were raised. Dr. Daniel MacKay, Jr. followed in his father's practice of medicine at the MacKay Hospital here. Mac was the youngest of seven siblings, all of which preceded him in death. Mac served in the South Pacific during World War II. He began working at the United States Post Office in White Sulphur Springs after his return in December, 1945 and became Postmaster in 1969. He and his wife, Dorothy, both retired in 1974 and made Mesa, Arizona their winter home, returning to Montana each summer. Mac and the former Dorothy Lucas were married in 1946. After 54 years of marriage, Dorothy survives him as do their four children, Carole Meador of Auburn, Washington; Doug MacKay of White Sulphur Springs; Mary Cunningham of Anchorage, Alaska; and Elaine MacKay of Scottsdale, Arizona; ten grandchildren, three great granchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mac was a member of Diamond City Lodge No. 7, A.F. & A.M. and served as their Worshipful Master in 1938, and as a member and served several times as Worthy Patron of Martha Chapter No. 11, Order of the Eastern Star. He also belonged to Algeria Shrine Temple in Helena, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mac will be remembered as a man of honor, integrity, pride, warmth and gentleness. The family wishes any memorial donations to go to the Senior Citizen Center in White Sulphur Springs. They invite all family and friends to join them for a memorial service to be held in May when Dorothy returns with his ashes.
