Description	:	Marius Martinsen, 100 of Kenmare, died Monday, August 1, 1988, at the Kenmare Community Hospital. His funeral was Friday, August 5, 1988, at 3:00 p.m. at the Nazareth Lutheran Church of Kenmare. Burial followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare. Officiating for the service was Rev. David Jarvis-Schroeder as well as Rev. Donald Fisher of the Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare. Organist was Mrs. Irene Gravesen. Vocalists were grandsons Larry and Dan Nelson. He was born on June 9, 1888 at Grue, Solar, Norway, a son of Martin and Johanna Nybeck and he came to the Bowbells area when he was 17 years of age, where he had a brother living. He then worked for his uncle, Julius Hanson, at Grand Forks and it was there that he met Bertha Bjerk who was working as a cook at the University of North Dakota. They were married December 26, 1917 at Strathcona, MN, and they lived at Ambrose, ND, where they worked on a farm for three years. They then moved to a farm in Clayton Township, Burke County, near Coteau, where they farmed until retiring and moving to Kenmare in 1969. She died on October 7, 1982 and he remained in Kenmare. He had served on the Board of the Federal Land Bank at Williston as well as the Coteau Elevator Board for many years. He was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Coteau and was currently a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church at Kenmare. He is survived by his son, Magnus and his wife Marjorie; daughter Pearl Nelson and her husband LeRoy; grandchildren, Dennis Nelson and his wife Kathy, Larry Nelson and his wife Carol, and Dan Nelson and his wife Julie, Ron Martinsen, Kay Martinsen, and Pam and her husband, Warren Duerre; and great-grandchildren, Troy, Tennille, Travis, Dana, Tanya, Heather, Mitzi and Mitchell.
