Pearl Ramona Martinsen was born June 17, 1920, the daughter of Marius and Bertha (Bjerk) Martinsen, on the family farm located in Burke County near Coteau, ND. She attended country school and graduated from Bowbells High School. She then attended Beauty School in Bismarck and worked at Beauty Shops in Mohall and Kenmare. Pearl married LeRoy E. Read More	Pearl Nelson, 97, Kenmare, ND, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the Kenmare Community Hospital. Pearl Ramona Martinsen was born June 17, 1920, the daughter of Marius and Bertha (Bjerk) Martinsen, on the family farm located in Burke County near Coteau, ND. She attended country school and graduated from Bowbells High School. She then attended Beauty School in Bismarck and worked at Beauty Shops in Mohall and Kenmare. Pearl married LeRoy E. Nelson June 17, 1943, at the Coteau Lutheran Church in Coteau, ND. They lived and farmed west of Kenmare and also raised horses. She was involved in many church activities, that included playing the organ for many years. Other interests were, cooking, baking, working in her garden growing vegetables and flowers, as well as entertaining family and friends with music. She was a long-time member of the Village Homemakers. In 1991, they retired from farming, moving into Kenmare, October 8, 2002. LeRoy passed away January 1, 2004. Following her husband’s death, she continued to reside in Kenmare and moved into the Kenmare Community Hospital Swing Bed Unit in October of 2011. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare. Her loving family includes: Dennis Nelson’s children, Troy (Lacey) Nelson, and their children, Kaydence and Stockton; Tennille Grier, and her children, Oxbow, Coltay and Aubrey; and Travis Nelson; son, Larry (Carol) Nelson, Minot, and their children, Dana Tranby, and her daughter, Shelby; Tanya Sabrosky, and her children, Maverick, Tyton and Zoey; and Heather (Will) Ruffin, and their children, William III, Kobe, Emmanuel and Elijah; son, Daniel (Julie) Nelson, Spicer, MN, and their children, Seth (Sarah), Abigail, Elijah and Jonah; daughter, Pam (Warren) Duerre, Kenmare, and their children, Mitzi (Kyle) Yanish, and their children, Madison and Zachary; and Mitchell Duerre; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; son, Dennis Nelson; brother, Magnus (Marjorie) Martinsen; and sister and brothers-in-law, Warren and Carol Skalman and Glen and Marlys Leet. Funeral: Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare. Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
