Marjorie was born August 3, 1910, in Bloomfield, Nebraska, the daughter of U.L. "Lee" and Clara Gard McKay. As a child, she moved with her parents to the Ekalaka area in 1911. Read More	THE EKALAKA EAGLE Thursday, 30 Aug 1991 Marjorie Schwede 3 Aug. 1910 - 21 Aug. 1991 Marjorie Helen Schwede, 81, of Ekalaka passed away Wednesday, August 21, 1991, at Dahl Memorial Nursing Home in Ekalaka. Marjorie was born August 3, 1910, in Bloomfield, Nebraska, the daughter of U.L. "Lee" and Clara Gard McKay. As a child, she moved with her parents to the Ekalaka area in 1911. Marjorie attended country schools, and graduated from Carter High School. She was married to Emil Schwede in Belle Fourche, SD., in 1934. Together they farmed and ranched ten miles northeast of Ekalaka. In 1975 they retired and moved into Ekalaka where Marjorie has since made her home. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and quilting. She especially enjoyed and loved her children and grandchil-dren. Survivors include: A daughter, Mrs. Dean [Gloria] Parks of Ekalaka; two sons, Dick Schwede of Ekalaka, and John Schwede of Nisland, SD.; two sisters, Oreta Figg of Hope, New Mexico, and Lyndall Cyr of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren, and five great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil, in 1982. Funeral services were held Fri-day, August 23, 1991, at the 100F. Cemetery in Ekalaka, with Pastor Kerry Parker of the Medicine Rocks Church officiating. Guitarist and soloist, Richard Harkins sang "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers included: Mitchell Schwede, Darren Schwede, Charles Parks, and Joe Hartl, with all of Marjorie's friends and neighbors considered honorary pallbearers. Interment was in the family lot of the 100F. Cemetery in Ekalaka, under the direction of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home.
