Stucky, "Pepper Nut Lady," 86, passed away Tuesday (March 31, 2009) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born on Nov. 21, 1922, in Halstead, the daughter of Abe and Wilda (Steele) Unruh. They preceded her in death. On Dec. 23, 1942, she married Kenneth Stucky in Halstead. Kenneth preceded her in death. Marjorie is famous for her pepper nuts she sold year-round; she had so many customers. Marjorie will be remembered for all the good cooking she has always done — you never left her house hungry. She also will be remembered for her big garden that she sold vegetables from all season long. Marjorie could grow any plants or flowers; she had a big green thumb for sure. She enjoyed her flowers and had a special love for violets and roses. Marjorie was an avid bingo player and played at the Moose Club in Hutchinson and at 101 Club. She met many good friends during her years of playing. She never missed a KU basketball game on TV. She could tell you who the players were and everything about them. Grandma always cherished every card and visit from her grandkids. They were all special to her. She had a standing appointment each Thursday to play gin rummy with her granddaughter, Misty, and we would laugh the entire time. Marjorie leaves behind a very special family: daughter, Virginia Faris and husband, Forrest, of Newton; grandson, Jody Faris and wife, Stephanie, and two great-granddaughters, Samantha Faris and Shelby Faris, and great-grandson, Cody Faris, all of Newton; granddaughter, Misty Faris, granddaughter, Sandy Niemczyk, grandson, Ed Niemczyk, and great-grandson, KC Niemczyk, all of Newton. Son, Kirby Stucky of Sedgwick; and grandsons, Justin Stucky, Travis Stucky and Joshua Stucky, all of Sedgwick. Grandson, Cory Stucky and his fiancee, Sara Scammehorn, of Dodge City; grandson, Brady Stucky and wife, Tara, and great-grandson, Jacob Stucky, and great-granddaughter, Madolyn Stucky, all of Halstead. Son, Kenny Stucky and wife, Ruth, of Burrton; grandson, Richard Stucky of Moundridge; and two great-granddaughters, Alyx Stucky and Ashlee Stucky of Halstead; grandson, Ryan Stucky and wife, Pamela, and great-granddaughter, Bailey Stucky, and great-grandson, Blake Stucky, all of Cheney. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive her. She had two best friends, Sharon and Sheila of Hutchinson, whom she talked about all the time. They were very special to her. Marjorie was preceded in death by sister, Mildred Considine; brothers, Gene, Harold and Herb Unruh; son, Keith Stucky, who died on Jan. 16, 2008; and her great-grandson, Chase Stucky, who died on Nov. 24, 2004. Marjorie will be remembered as the greatest mom, grandma, aunt and friend to so many people. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead, with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Mennonite Church in Halstead, with Pastor Cleo Koop officiating.
