June 21, 1940 - Humboldt Republican - Mark Bixby Dickey was born at East Orange, VT. Oct 16, 1876 and came to Humboldt county with his parents when he was six months old, where he has resided ever since, receiving his education in the Humboldt county schools. At the time of his death he was 63 years, 7 months, and 21 days. He passed away at his farm home near Bradgate June 7, 1940 at 6 a.m. He was the son of Alanson E. and Laura Pratt Dickey who preceded him in death. He was the sixth child in a family of seven children. On August 4, 1903 he was married to Ida Ann Wallace at Albert Lea, Minn., who passed away July 30, 1921. Nine children were born to this union, one dying in infancy. Those surviving are: Beryl, Donald, Robert, Howard at home, Mrs. Thelma Kinseth of Ottosen, Mrs. Helen Naeve of Bradgate, Paul of Los Angeles, Calif., and Philip of Wasilla, Alaska. Besides the children, he leaves two sisters: Mrs. Blanche Keenan of Duluth, Minn and Mrs. Ida Taylor of Livermore, Ia., and six grandchildren and other relatives as well as a host of friends. Mark was a kind and devoted father, keeping his family together after the death of his wife. He was an honorable man, a good citizen and respected by all who knew him. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 9, at 2:30 P.M. at the Methodist church at Bradgate. The Rev. W.S. Handy of Gilmore City was in charge. Burial was in the Gilmore cemetery. Pallbearers wtre Elmer Jarvis, Chris Brandhoij, Ivan Godden, Thomas KJeer, E.0. Musselman and Wm. Hoag. The music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Eli Cupp, Marguerite Bradbury, and Richard Christianson. Relatives from out of town attending were Miss Minnie Wallace of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Royce Ladd of Clarion, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Davis and family and Mr. and Mrs. Will Davis and family of Livermore, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eastman and Lyle and Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Eastman, of Bode, Mr. and Mrs. S.M. Kinseth of Ottosen, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dickey of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. Mate Taylor of Livermore and Mrs. Blanch Keenan of Duluth.
