Marlene Jo (Van Hoven) Tate Marlene was born to Paul and Cora Van Hoven on October 9, 1939. She passed away on March 8, 2009, at her home. Mom, to four boys, who were her pride and joy. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Ready and willing to always help her family when asked, yet never asked why. Loyal to a fault to her husband, Carl and again to all her boys and grandchildren. Ever the jokester, she had a wonderful sense of humor and could make you laugh, even when you didnt feel like it. Never complained, but took life as it was handed to her, and did what needed to be done, even with the constant pain she dealt with on a daily basis. Ever and always the best mom, wife, grandma, sister and friend. We will miss her, we will never forget her and will always be thankful that God gave her to us. Marlene was educated in the Wenatchee School District, where she was proud to have been a baton majorette during her junior year. Marlene married Carl Tate in November 1958, and made their home in Wenatchee. Marlene worked in the fruit industry. Later, she an Carl purchased the Springwater Grocery, which she ran for many years while Carl continued his day job. Marlene enjoyed reading, crocheting, camping and bowling. She bowled on leagues until her health would no longer allow her to, but continued to watch and cheer on her kids in their sports endeavors. As long as her health would allow, she was in attendance. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lanny Van Hoven; and sister, Linda "Red" Van Hoven. She is survived by her husband, Carl; her sons, Barry (Peri) Tate of Wenatchee, Ben (Susan) Tate of Missouri, Tony Tate of Seattle and Seth (Hana) Tate of East Wenatchee; grandchildren, Brad and Brooke of Wenatchee, Linley and Justin of Missouri and Luke and Jake of East Wenatchee; twin sister, Arlene Stuart of Wenatchee; and brother, Shawn Van Hoven of Puyallup. She touched many lives without even knowing it, and those lives she touched are better for having known Marlene Jo Tate. Even youths grow tired and weary, and the young stumble and fall; but those who wait upon the Lord, will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. ~ Isaiah 40. Viewing will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009. A Celebration of Marlenes Life will be held Friday, March 13, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee, with a Graveside Service following thereafter. There will be a private family potluck held at the home of Barry and Peri Tate, following the Graveside Service. Arrangements by Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
