Description	:	Boy Drowned in Old Well While Hunting for Ducks Marshall Campbell, 13 year old son of Miles Campbell, of Glendale township, was drowned Thursday in an old well, while he and his brother were hunting ducks. The boys were wading in a shallow pond of water, when suddenly Marshall plunged into deep water. Good swimmers say this is a difficult experience even for a swimmer because the surprise and consequent strangling takes away the breath, and the swimmer has a struggle to regain poise and breath. Read More	Boy Drowned in Old Well While Hunting for Ducks Marshall Campbell, 13 year old son of Miles Campbell, of Glendale township, was drowned Thursday in an old well, while he and his brother were hunting ducks. The boys were wading in a shallow pond of water, when suddenly Marshall plunged into deep water. But Marshall could not swim, so that even a narrow well was as dangerous as a wide body of deep water. The brother could not help him, and by the time help could be summoned, he was dead. The well was one of those old shallow lake bed wells very common many years ago. They were considered so dangerous that a state law was passed ordering all abandoned or unused wells to be filled up. At the time of the accident, Mrs. Miles Campbell, the boy’s mother, was in Indiana, where she had been summoned by the death of her mother. She was called home and reached here in time for the son’s funeral, which was held today. (?) Services were conducted by Rev. Tarleton, and the remains laid to rest in the Miller cemetery.
