Description	:	*Marshall P. King, 83, passed away at the Boone County Hospital in Boone on Wednesday evening, July 30, 2014. He was born on August 5, 1930 in Boone, Iowa the son of Arthur King and Ila (Pomeroy) King. In 1949, he married Alice Kerwin. The couple later divorced. On January 24, 1985, he married Donna Blanchard (Peterson*) King in Des Moines, Iowa. Donna passed away on February 22, 2003. King, 83, passed away at the Boone County Hospital in Boone on Wednesday evening, July 30, 2014. He was born on August 5, 1930 in Boone, Iowa the son of Arthur King and Ila (Pomeroy) King. In 1949, he married Alice Kerwin. The couple later divorced. On January 24, 1985, he married Donna Blanchard (Peterson*) King in Des Moines, Iowa. Donna passed away on February 22, 2003. Marshall later married Jean Wiley Jesse on August 28, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. Marshall graduated from Boone High school in 1948 as salutatorian of his class. He was a farmer, raising grain as well as owning and operating a commercial cattle feed lot. Marshall was a member of both the First United Methodist Church and Mt. Olive Masonic Lodge #79 AF&AM for 50 years. He was also a member of the Iowa Cattlemen's Association; National Cattlemen's Association; Boone County Fair Board for 25 years serving as Beef Superintendent for 14 years; initialized the Boone County Fair Supporters to support 4-H projects; and worked with the Iowa State Fair Board Directors on the Beef Quarters. Marshall served as chair of the National Grading sub-committee and was successful in getting new grading standards approved. He had also served as a delegate to Japan for the beef industry. He received the "Iowa Cattlemen's Association Hall of Fame Award" and in 1974, was awarded the Master Farmer Award. Throughout the years, the King farm operation hosted many tours for FFA, college agriculture students, grade school children and in 1976, hosted President Ford's visit. His parents,wife Donna and a brother-in-law Weldon Swedlund preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Jean of Boone; 2 sons Randy King and wife Kathi of Star, Idaho and Jon King and wife Peg of Boone, Iowa; 3 daughters Nancy Anania and fiancé Brad Thompson of Ames, Iowa, Lori Schultz and husband Dennis of Ankeny, Iowa, and Kathy Banyai and husband Rod of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister Audrienne Swedlund of Stratford, Iowa; 2 step-daughters Jane Hagge of Pleasant Hill, Iowa and Rickey Ryan and husband Ralph of Carlisle, Iowa; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and extended family Janice Anderson and husband Jim and their family of Madrid, Iowa, Pamela Munson and her family of Madrid, Iowa and Rollie Jesse and wife Jackie of Elkhart, Iowa. Marshall lived 83 years, 11 months and 25 days.
