Baker and Rachel Baker OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, April 1, 1947 MARSHALL TAYLOR BAKER Marshall Taylor Baker, son of Jesse and Rachel Baker, was born in Lucas county, Iowa, March 17, 1868, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rachel Turner, in Knoxville, Iowa, March 24, 1947, at the age of 79 years and seven days. He was united in marriage to Alvie L. Lipe January 1, 1895, who survives him. To this union eight children were born, six of whom survive him. They are, Virgil, of Lucas, Mrs. Rachel Turner, of Knoxville; Mrs. Marie Curtis, of Lacona; Archie, of Buhl, Idaho; Mrs. Myrtle Brunner, of Indianola; and Mrs. Lola Hayes, of Moline, Ill. He was preceded in death by one son, Levi, who died in 1918 and one daughter, Amy, who died in infancy. He is also survived by two brothers, William and George, of Chariton, 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Becky Baker and Veryl Marvin Truman, upon whom he lavished much affection. His entire life was spent in Lucas county. During his last illness he was patient and uncomplaining. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 27, 1947, at 2 o'clock, at the Miley funeral home. The Rev. Virgil Swanson was in charge. Interment was made in the Fletcher cemetery.
