Description	:	Rites held for Martha Knutson Martha Knutson, age 100, of Minot, formerly of the Norma area, died Monday, April 4, 1988, at the Trinity Nursing Home of Minot. Her funeral was held Friday, April 8 at 2 p.m. at the Evanger Lutheran Church of rural Norma with burial following in the church cemetery. Officiating for the service was Rev. Tom Stenzel. Organist was Mrs. Carol Faye Cook, and vocalist was Mrs. Alma Knutson. Active casketbearers includcd Knute Knutson, Casper Knutson, Victor Knutson, Roger Jensen, Jerrold Johnson and Lloyd Brekhus. She was born on April 19, 1887 at Evanger, Norway, a daughter of Erick and Johanna Brekhus. She came to the United States in 1907 and settled in the Norma area where she was married to Ole Knutson on October 19, 1907. 'I'hey homesteaded in Rockford Township, Renville County, where they farmed until retiring and moving to Minot in 1946. They entered the Lutheran Retirement Home in 1969 and Ole died on August 7, 1975. She entered the Nursing Home facility in 1978. They were charter members of the Evanger Lutheran Church and she was currently a member of the First Lutheran Church of Minot. She is survived by her sons, Clarence of Canbv, OR, Richard of Ethelbert, Manitoba, Canada, daughters Bertha Dietz of St. Paul, MN. Myrtle Aho of Bismarck, and Eileen Kringen of Woodbury, MN; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter and three sons. Thompson-Larson Funeral Home of Kenmare handled the arrangements. From The Kenmare News
