Haney Waynesville, N.C. native Martha Dyer Haney, 99, formerly of Buffalo, widow of Milas Haney, died May 11, 2002, at 2:15 a.m. in Ellen Sagar Nursing Home after a period of declining health. Mrs. Haney was born in Waynesville, N.C., on Feb. 9, 1903, a daughter of the late John Henry Dyer and Ethel Brown Dyer. She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Mrs. Haney was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce H. and Vernon Abee of Union; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Haney was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce H. and Vernon Abee of Union; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Haney was predeceased by three daughters, Betty H. Barber, Hilda H. Fuller and Jeanette Price; three sons, Carl Haney, Everette Haney and Amos Haney; and three grandchildren, Carla Haney, Jackie Lancaster and Susan Barber. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Buffalo Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Anderson, the Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will be in Putman Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Haney, Eric Haney, Steve Abee, Jeff Abee, Gene West, John Lowe, David Scott and Ricky Lancaster. The following are asked to assemble at the church today at 3:15 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Doil Arthur, Charley Hughes, Wishie Hines, Tommy Boyd, Dickie Boyd, Dr. Kent Switzer, Dr. David Keith and Helen Raye Lawson. The body remained at the funeral home where the family received friends Sunday night from 7-8:30 and will be placed in the church at 2:30 today to await the hour of service. The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Vernon Abee, 516 Toluca St., Union. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
