The Rev. Darwin Kopfmann and the Rev. Marty Toepke-Floyd will officiate. Burial will be in the Ashley City Cemetery with Carlsen Funeral Home in Ashley in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Martha Fetzer was born May 31, 1912, to John and Rosa (Perman) Fetzer northwest of Venturia, N.D. She grew up in this area. She received her education at Albrights Valley Country School in McIntosh County. She helped on the family farm. She married Henry Roth on July 5, 1932, near Venturia. They spent the first few years of married life farming northwest of Venturia, raising small grains and livestock. They then moved northeast of Ashley and farmed there. He died June 10, 1980. She moved into Ashley in December 1980. She married Fred Knoblich in October 1982. They made their home in Ashley. He died Aug. 3, 1984. She married Samuel "Sam" Eszlinger on Dec. 3, 1987, in Ashley. They made Ashley their home. He died May 23, 1998. She then moved to the Wishek Nursing Home to be near her sister. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where she was active in church activities and was also a member of the Ladies Circle, was a member of the Ashley Senior Citizens and the Gold Star Saddle Club. She enjoyed gardening and canning, farm life, was an avid horse lover and also enjoyed traveling. Survivors include one son, Dale Roth of Temple Hills, Md.; two sisters, Lydia Schilling of Wishek and Anna Smith of Stockton, Calif.; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, three brothers and two sisters. Casketbearers will be Oliver Bettenhausen, Melvin Fetzer and Delbert Schilling, all of Wishek, Harvey Schilling and Roland Ketterling, both of Bismarck, N.D., and Marvin Schneider of Ashley.
