Sutcliffe and son and daughter of Clarksville, Howard Rock and family and John Keck and family of Wapello. Martha Frances Rock was born at Fairhaven, Ohio, September 3, 1848. She was the only child of Curtis and Martha Ramsay Worden. Her mother died when Mrs. Rock was but two weeks old, after her mother’s death she made her home with her Grandfather Ramsay until her marriage. Her father in early manhood was a school teacher; later he went to the gold fields of California and upon his return he prospered in business and later was elected representative from his district in which office he served two terms. On February 22, 1866, she was married to Andrew Bower Rock. She and her husband established their home on a farm near College Corner, Ohio, where they resided until they emigrated to Morning Sun, Iowa, in September 1881. When eleven years of age Mrs. Rock accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the United Presbyterian church of Hopewell, Ohio, under the pastorate of Samuel McCracken. During her residence in this community she has been an honored and consistent member of the United Presbyterian church of this place. One son, Curtis Elvin, died March 9th, 1896. The husband and the following children survive the wife and mother, Lora and Elmer E. of Morning Sun; R.H. Rock of Wapello; Mrs. O.E. Sutcliffe of Clarksville, Iowa; Mrs. Fred Keck of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. L.E.C. Smith of National City, Calif.; Mrs. F.G. Lambert of Douglas, Arizona; Mrs. J.A. Liggett of Pheonix, Arizona. Mrs. Rock will ever be remembered for her cheerful and congenial disposition, the wealth of love and training bestowed upon her family, the uncomplaining and heroic spirit which characterized her entire life. Her family and friends will ever cherish the fragrance of good cheer and comradeship which so signally graced her life. Her husband, children and many friends rise up and call her life most blessed.
