Services by Broadway Mortuary. Published in Wichita Eagle on 5/21/2009∼Martha Bohrn was born with the maiden name Martha Nightingale to a family where she had six brothers and five sisters. They were a farming family. She was from a line of immigrants from the Netherlands. She is remembered as a tough woman. Rough around the edges, she was very strong in her opinions and beliefs. She could be known to pick a fight easily, and finish it even more easily. She naturally took on the role of family organizer and tended to boss her siblings. She did not practice any major religion, and focused on her work as a mother. She married her husband, Buck Borhn after knowing him most of her life. She went on to have three boys of her own and one daughter. She was an attentive grandma to her grandchildren. They recount her being an avid gardener and a terrible cook. Her great-grandchildren remember her as the grandma with curly hair and two green birds that sang to her. In her final years, she was plagued by dementia but still loved holidays sitting in the recliner surrounded by family. She spent her final days in her care home facility with her two green birds, and died peacefully as she slept. Her family held her funeral service at a local funeral home, and had a simple ceremony where her children spoke.
