Description	:	Martha Howe was born August 6, 1922 to Rutherford Blaine and Myrtle Mildred Howe in Muscatine Hospital, Muscatine, Iowa. Martha graduated from Tipton High School, Tipton, Iowa in 1941, attended Tipton Junior College in Tipton. Martha graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1948 with a B. A. Degree and received her Master of Science Degree in physical education from Washington State University in 1959. Martha belonged to the United States Naval Reserve from 1943-1946. Martha graduated from Tipton High School, Tipton, Iowa in 1941, attended Tipton Junior College in Tipton. Martha graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1948 with a B. A. Degree and received her Master of Science Degree in physical education from Washington State University in 1959. Martha belonged to the United States Naval Reserve from 1943-1946. After her training in Hunters College, Bronx, New York, she worked in the Bureau of Ships in Washington, D.C. Martha taught in Greenfield, Iowa 1948-1949; Atlantic, Iowa 1949-1952; Vista, California 1952-1954; DeWitt, Iowa 1954-1956; and Clarkston, Washington 1956-1958 and Pullman, Washington 1958-1974 when she retired from teaching. Martha was a life member of N.E.A.; member of W.E. A.; W.A.H.P.E.R.; A.A.H.P.E.R.D.; Artists Studio Association in Lincoln City, OR and the Cedar County Historical Society. Martha was an avid runner and swimmer. She became a water colorist in her painting classes. She was a gardener and loved many types of activities. She took organ lessons and became an organist for her own enjoyment. Although Martha never married she was very close to her family and many friends. She wants to be remembered by the way she lived. Being kind and thoughtful, helping others and enjoying a happy, healthy life.
