Description	:	Martha Irene Hargis, 89, of New Sharon died Wednesday, April 27, 1988 at the New Sharon Care Center. She was born July 17, 1898 in Mahaska County, the daughter of Elisha B. and Nettie James Ferguson. She married James Stanley Hargis on December 24, 1916. She was a life-long resident of the New Sharon area. She was a member of the Union Mills Christian church, CWF of the Christian Church and Deaconess Americus. She is survived by one son, Caleb E. of New Sharon; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents;... Read More	Martha Irene Hargis, 89, of New Sharon died Wednesday, April 27, 1988 at the New Sharon Care Center. She was born July 17, 1898 in Mahaska County, the daughter of Elisha B. and Nettie James Ferguson. She married James Stanley Hargis on December 24, 1916. She was a life-long resident of the New Sharon area. She was a member of the Union Mills Christian church, CWF of the Christian Church and Deaconess Americus. She is survived by one son, Caleb E. of New Sharon; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James in October 1973; three brothers and one grandson. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Union Mills Christian Church with Pastor Kerry Lake officiating. Burial will be in the Union Mills Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Union Mills Christian Church. Harden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
