| Description | : | Martha Jane Armstrong was born to George William Armstrong and his wife, Barbara Ellen Cummings. Martha's mother died shortly after her birth so Martha was left in the care of her grandmother, Sarah Grove Cummings. As Martha's father left, he said he would return but the family never heard from him again. After the death of her grandparents she was raised by her Aunt Sarah Berberich. Martha and her husband, Isham J. Thompson were the parents of six children: a son that died as an infant, Gertrude, Bert, George, Frank and Mindella. |
