She had rheumatism and suffered greatly for many months, but had grown much worse the past few weeks. One daughter. Mrs. Agnes Ervine of Canada, had been with her mother all winter. Mrs Orrin Bradshaw, of W.Va., another daughter, reached her bedside just, a few days before her mother's death. Her husband, one son, three daughters and a number of relatives survive her. Also a good circular saw mill: Saw 40 inches, and in fine shape, always kept in dry. These plants were constructed by first-class mechanic and have always given excellent service. Armstrong's barn, located on his farm just west of McDowell, was destroyed by fire last Friday evening. The loss included all of Mr. Armstrong's farm machinery and a quantity of hay stored for winter. The origin of the fire was a mystery, as Mr. Armstrong had not been to the barn during the day and knew of no one who had. The loss is partially covered by insurance carried in the new Mutual company lately organized. Highland Recorder November 18, 1921 ABBOT L. ARMSTRONG OBITUARY Abbot L. Armstrong, one of the few remaining Confederate veterans, passed away on Sunday evening at 7 o’clock. He was born July 5, 1844, and was 77 years, 4 months and eight days. He belonged to Company B. 19th Cavalry Regiment—Rosser’s Brigade, Stuart’s Division. He married Miss Martha Siron, who died about seven years ago, and to this union were born six children. Pearl, who died several years ago, Joe, who lives in Washington, Lurty with whom he made his home, Mrs. Will Ervine of Calgary, Canada, Mrs. Orion Bradshaw and Mrs. Howard Siron, the last four named being with him in his last illness. A number of years ago he united with the Presbyterian church at Bethlehem. His funeral services were conducted at the McKendree church by Rev. L. M. Moffett. The following friends and neighbors were pall Messrs Jos. Hiner, Jared Hiner, Clement Armstrong, Roy Armstrong, Gideon and Henry Propst. He is survived by three brothers, Thomas, Arthur and John A. Armstrong and four sisters, Mrs. French, Mrs. Wm. Stuart, Mrs. Oliver Hiner and Mrs. Nell Armstrong. McDowell News: Abbott Armstrong is very sick, his daughter, Agnes, of Canada, arrived last week.
