The Rev. James Barnett, rector of the Episcopal church officiated. Burial was in Prospect View cemetery at Pierce. Mrs. Friederich died Wednesday, June 17 at a Norfolk hospital. Martha Klitzke was born October 28, 1866 at Bartin by Colberg, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Klitzke. In June 1874 , she came with her parents to the United States and they settled in Norfolk. The spring of 1875 the family homesteaded by Willow Creek, 12 ½ miles west of Pierce. On March 12, 1896, she was married to George Friederich at the home of her parents. They lived on a farm six miles south of Plainview for two years before moving to her parents' homestead. They lived there until October of 1917 when they moved to Norfolk where they had since made their home. Mr. Friederich died November 5, 1949. The couple had 10 children, three of them preceding their mother in death, Mrs. Elsie Klug, Adolph Wilhlem and Hugo Friederich. She also was preceded in death by Capt. Frederick Klug, a grandson, who lost his life in World War II. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Louise Lichtenberg, Miss Feodora and Josephine Friederich and Mrs. Ada Klug, all of Norfolk, and Mrs. Myron Reed of Marcelene, Mo.; two sons, Herbert of Pierce and George of Atherton, Calif.; 10 grandchildrena and 14 great grandchildren.
