She was born on December 20, 1918 in Henry County, Ohio to the late John G. and Ruth N. (Laubenthal) Ricker. On October 30, 1943 she married Charles G. Young who preceded her in death in 2011. Martha was a lifelong resident of Henry County. She was a graduate of Liberty Center High School, and she attended business school in Toledo, Ohio. Young, 97, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away on October 2, 2016 at the Lutheran Home of Napoleon. She was born on December 20, 1918 in Henry County, Ohio to the late John G. and Ruth N. (Laubenthal) Ricker. On October 30, 1943 she married Charles G. Young who preceded her in death in 2011. Martha was a lifelong resident of Henry County. She was a graduate of Liberty Center High School, and she attended business school in Toledo, Ohio. She was an office manager of the Napoleon Egg Auction and a deputy clerk for the City of Napoleon in the Income Tax Department where she retired in 1984. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Holgate and its Mission Society. She was a member of Partners in Retirement, Ohio Chapter and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Holgate. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Young (Thomas Sebo) of Carmichael, California; son, David (Debra) Young of Defiance, Ohio; grandchildren, Alex Young of Madison, Alabama, and Lisa Young of Westerville, Ohio; sister, Ruth Behnfeldt of Webster, New York. She was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Shumaker, Doris Sheriff, and Velma Suydam; brother, Clyde Ricker; and infant son, James Joel Young. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon. Interment will follow service at Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to charity of donors choice.
