The youth and popularity of Mrs. Lacox and the fact that she leaves a small family, makes her death doubly sad. Martha Malinda Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Moore was born at Papilion, Nebraska, March 28, 1891 and departed this life in a hospital in Creston, Iowa, April 13, 1923, aged 32 years and 16 days. She came with her parents to Iowa when fourteen years of age and on September 5, 1908 was united in marriage to Thos Lacox of Nodaway, Iowa. To them two children were born, Eva, 12 years of age, and Vera, age 9. Besides her husband and daughters there is left her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. w. Moore of Nodaway, Iowa, a brother, W. A. Moore of Hector, Minnesota, numerous other relatives and numberless friends as she endeared herself to all who knew her. Possessed of all the virtues and graces that enter into the making of an ideal wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Martha was indeed a womanly woman, filling a place in her home and among her friends that few ever attain. Although naturally delicate physique, she was usually well and the soddenness of her untimely death came as a shock to the family and friends. While her loss will leave a vacancy that cannot be filled in the home and community as well as in the hearts of her loved ones her memory will ever live as a bright shining star guiding her dear ones on into a future better and richer for the few years she was given to them. Funeral services conducted by Rev. S. R. Overholser were held at the Presbyterian Church her Monday afternoon. the music was furnished by Mrs. Edna Everett, Mrs. E. C. Kennedy, Fred Fredericks and Frank Brown with Mrs. Jane McElroy at the piano. The following songs were well rendered: "My Mothers Hands," "Asleep in Jesus," "Looking This Way," and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." The casket and pulpit were banked with beautiful flowers, eloquent tokens of loving regard with which Mrs. Lacox was held. Interment was made in the Methodist Grove Cemetery.
