Description	:	Martha Keller loved to sew and made quilts for her girls, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Those comforters were not her only talent. She was skilled at crocheting and her cooking, especially her German dishes, cheese buttons, strudles and such were not only family favorites but of others. Read More	Martha Keller loved to sew and made quilts for her girls, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Those comforters were not her only talent. She was skilled at crocheting and her cooking, especially her German dishes, cheese buttons, strudles and such were not only family favorites but of others. For two years she worked at Shorty's Café in Selby. She was a farm wife for many years, so used to hard work that after moving to Selby, she did housecleaning for people in town. "And she loved to garden," said her daughter Irene. "She loved flowers and she was such an outgoing person, loving to visit with people, entertain company and to play cards." When Martha's health began to fail, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Selby, where she died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at the age of 91. She was born to John and Barbara (Wahle) Sandmeier on Dec. 15, 1915. She was baptized in January of 1916 and was confirmed by the Rev. Seaman in 1929 in Bowdle. She also attended schools around the Bowdle area. On Dec. 29, 1936, she married Adolph Keller from the same area in Selby. For three months they lived with her brother Rudolph before moving to Adolph's grandparents' farm for two and a half years. Following that, they lived on a farm four miles east of Java. In 1942 they purchased a farm east of Java where they lived and worked for 30 years before retiring and moving to Selby in November of 1972. It was said that she not only loved her children and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, but she enjoyed them. Surviving are her daughters, Irene (Wayne) Holder of Selby, Shirley (Arliss) Opheim of Selby and Darlene (Tommy) Tefertiller of Bozeman, Mont., five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Her husband Adolph died in 1992. Three grandchildren, Dean and Doreen Holder and Duke Tefertiller, three brothers, Helmuth, Rudy and Ted, and two sisters, Freida and Eva, also preceded Martha in death. Funeral services for Martha were Saturday, Aug. 11, at St. John Lutheran Church in Selby where Martha had been a member for so many years. Dale Hamre officiated. Casketbearers were Duane and Sharon Holder, Brad and Darliss Larson, Ron and Sara Opheim, Bobby and Tammi Ducheneaux and David and Echo Thompson. Burial was in Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Larson's Funeral Home of Mobridge. Mobridge Tribune August 15, 2007
