HASVOLD TAKEN BY DEATH Funeral for Long-Suffering Wife and Mother was Held Saturday Mrs. Martha Hasvold, wife of Wilhelm Hasvold, died last Thursday at the hospital, where she had been a patient for two weeks. During the last few years Mrs. Hasvold had not been in good health, and sought medical aid to relieve the illness that it was her lot to carry. Funeral services, under the direction of the Orvedahl funeral home,were conducted by Rev. O.G. Salveson, in the home for the family and relatives, and in the Clare Lutheran church, on Saturday. Mrs .Harry Halverson sang two favorite hymns, accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Rewalt. Interment was made in the Clare cemetery. Mrs. Martha Thompson Hasvold, daughter of John and Ingeborg Malina Thompson, was born at Inwood, Iowa, January 27, 1884. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church at Inwood, Iowa, and was confirmed in her baptismal covenant in the Lutheran church at Dell Rapids, S.D. She was one of a large family, her parents and some of her brothers having preceded her in death. She was married to Wilhelm Hasvold at Huron, S.D., on October 5, 1905. For five years she and her husband resided in North Dakota, returning to Moody county. the home county of her husband, where she has made her home at the time of her death. To this union one son was born, Harlan, who is living on the home farm in the Clare community. Mr. and Mrs. Hasvold reared in their home Mary Ellen Albright, now Mrs. Melvin Severson, Arlington, S.D., and took care of some of the Hasvold's brother's children, especially the two girls Evelyn and Irene. Mrs. Hasvold has been a member of the Clare Lutheran church since coming to this community and was an active member of the Ladies' Aid. She was presented with a life membership in the Women's Missionary Federation by the Ladies' Aid two years ago. Mrs. Hasvold is survived by her husband, her son Harlan, by two grandchildren, Donald and Jannette; by two half brothers, Elias Wickre, Sioux Falls, and Henry Wickre, Hartford, S.D., and by her sisters and brothers, Mrs. Ida, Huron, Mrs. Hannah Applegate, Bloomfield, Indiana; Thomas Thompson, Vienna, S.D.; Mrs. Cora Bowder, Huron, S.D., Mrs Josie Kent, who live in the state of Washington and by a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing. Relatives from a distance who came to attend the last rites included Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Wickre, Mrs. H.A. Stephens, Jos. Wickre and Wm. Sanders, Sioux Falls; Henry Wickre, Theo. Wickre, Mrs. Omar Langloss, of Lyons; Albert Wickre and Gerhard Wickre, of Crooks; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wickre, Wentworth; Thos. Thompson and son Leslie, Vienna; Mrs. Martha Johnson, Howard Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Severson and daughters, of Erwin; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. John Bowder, of Huron.
