Hasvold, 84, a retired farmer and electrician, died Saturday, March 23, 1996, at Flandreau Municipal Hospital in Flandreau. Mr. Hasvold was born March 26, 1911 in Kintyre, ND. The family moved to a farm in Clare Township near Flandreau when he was an infant. He received his elementary education in a rural school and graduated from Egan High School in 1928. He married Viola Colvin on May 11, 1938, in Madison. He farmed in Clare Township, was a self-employed electrician and worked for the Flandreau ASCS Office. The couple moved into Flandreau in 1970. Mr. Hasvold was a former member of Clare Lutheran Church where he played the organ for more than 35 years, and a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Donald, Cheyenne, WY, and Roger, Flandreau; a daughter, Janet Morrison, Redfield, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a stepbrother, Glen Leraas, Colman; and a foster sister, Mary Ellen Severson, Sioux Falls. Services will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial in Clare Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with a prayer service at 7 PM. Moody County Enterprise 3-27-1996 Services were held today (Wed. Mar. 27) at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Flandreau for Harlan W. Hasvold, 84, who died Saturday, March 23 at the Flandreau Municipal Hospital. Pastor Joel Xavier officiated. He was born on March 26, 1911 at Kintyre, ND to Wilhelm and Martha Thompson Hasvold. They moved to the family farm in Clare Township near Flandreau when Harlan was one year old. He received his elementary education in a rural school, and graduated from Egan High School in 1928. Harlan married Viola Colvin on Mary 11, 1938 at Madison. he farmed in Clare Township, was a self-employed electrician and worked for the Flandreau ASCS Office. They moved into Flandreau in 1970. He was a former member of the Clare Lutheran Church where he played organ for more than 35 years, and a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Viola of Flandreau; three children, Donald (Sharon) of Cheyenne, WY, Janet (Larry) Morrison of Redfield and Roger (Elizabeth "Betty") of Flandreau; 11 grandchildren and two great grand-children; one step-brother Glen Leraas of Colman; and one foster sister, Mary Ellen Severson of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; his step-mother; and one step-brother, Russell Leraas. Interment was in Clare Cemetery, rural Flandreau.
