Description	:	October 26, 1920 marks the passing of another of the county's pioneer residents in the death of Mrs Martha Turner Warner of Clemons at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 26 days. Mrs Turner was born on October 28, 1825, the daughter of John Turner and his wife Mary Ann Sophia Veners Turner of London, England. he came with her parents to the U.S. at the age of 10, and located at Port Byron, Illinois in 1851. Read More	October 26, 1920 marks the passing of another of the county's pioneer residents in the death of Mrs Martha Turner Warner of Clemons at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 26 days. Mrs Turner was born on October 28, 1825, the daughter of John Turner and his wife Mary Ann Sophia Veners Turner of London, England. he came with her parents to the U.S. at the age of 10, and located at Port Byron, Illinois in 1851. On February 27, 1855 she was united in marriage to Otis Witter Warner of Painesville, Ohio and for 11 years they made their home on a farm near Geneseo, Illinois. In 1866 they moved to Marshall county, Iowa and bought a farm one mile east of Clemons, where Mrs Warner has always lived. Mr Warner died on February 7, 1918. Mrs Warner was an exemplary Christian. She gave her heart to God when she was quite a young woman uniting with the Baptist church. She was a woman beloved by all who knew her. Mrs Warner was the mother of twelve children, three of whom died in infancy, Anson and Mary in Illinois and William near Clemons. One daughter, Mrs Anna Springer, preceded her to the great Beyond on July 30, 1900. Six daughters and two sons survive. They are Mrs J A Shepard of State Center; Mrs J C Burst of Orlando, Oklahoma; Mrs A W Monroe, Clemons; Mrs Edward Eggleston of Akley, Iowa; Mrs F A LaPlant of Bazaar, Kansas; Mrs J W Smith of Clear Lake, Iowa; and Thomas J and Ernest O Warner of Clemons. All were present at the time of her death except Mrs LaPlant. One brother, Thomas F Turner of Port Byron, Illinois; a sisters Mrs Eliza Goodrich of Wheaton, Illinois and 27 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren, together with a host of friends remain to mourn her departure. The funeral services were held from the Christian church in Clemons on October 29, 1920, Rev Biersborn of Liscomb officiating. November 4, 1920 State Center Enterprise.
