Description	:	Martha Shibe, 100, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014, Grundy Memorial Hospital, in Grundy Center, IA. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Martha was born April 5, 1914, to Anton and Victoria (Kaplan) Vokoun, in Quarry, IA; the youngest of seven children. Martha was born April 5, 1914, to Anton and Victoria (Kaplan) Vokoun, in Quarry, IA; the youngest of seven children. She attended schooling at Quarry and graduated from LeGrand High School in 1931, then attended a secretarial course at Marshalltown Business College. Martha was employed for several months at Durand’s Transfer Company, and then at the Law Office of G.A. Mote for thirteen years. Martha was united in marriage to George M. Shibe on May 11, 1944, at Central Christian Church Parsonage, by Reverend P.G. Dennis. After George returned from service in December of 1945, they lived in Marshalltown. George preceded Martha in death, passing away May 11, 1997. Martha loved gardening, growing prize vegetables and flowers; also growing shade trees from seed. She was a member of the Central Iowa Art Association for several years, and showed her paintings at the annual Art Festival. Martha also enjoyed reading, cooking and baking. She was a member of the Marshalltown Garden Club, Arbor Day Foundation and Polka Club of Iowa. Martha is survived by her two sons, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, Martha is preceded in death by her husband, George, four sisters, Emily, Helen, Adelaide and Laura and two brothers, Victor and Eddie.
