His skull was crushed at the... Read More	The Aberdeen, S. D., Daily American of the 15th gives these particulars concerning the death of Martin Erickson: Martin Erickson, a laborer working for I. D. Davies was killed some time Saturday night or early Sunday morning by falling down stairs at the home of W. A. Gill, 217 south Third street, where he was rooming. When found yesterday morning about 6 o'clock he was lying on his back at the foot of the stairs in his night clothes, his head and body on the floor and his legs on the stairs. His skull was crushed at the base and he probably died without recovering consciousness. How the man happened to fall will probably never be known. It is apparent from the condition of his night clothes that he did not slide down the stairs and it is supposed that when he fell from the top he did not strike only part of the stairs before he reached the bottom. Walked In Sleep. It is believed that he walked in his sleep, as it is said he had a habit of doing this once in a while. His roommate, a man named Axel, did not hear him get up and was in ignorance of his companion's death until awakened yesterday morning and told of it. There was no evidence of intoxication on the man, and Mr. Gill, this man Axel and others who saw Erickson Saturday night said that he was perfectly sober. Mr. Gill believes that he heard the fall during the night, but paid no attention to the noise for the reason that there is a roomer in the house who falls out of bed, and Mr. Gill thought the noise was merely the result of this habitual stunt. Erickson's body was taken to W. H. Wilson's undertaking rooms and there prepared for burial. Came From Nebraska. Very little is known of Enckson. He came here from somewhere in Nebraska, and a union card, which was found on him, was issued by the bricklayers' union of Omaha. It is understood that he was married. Today Chief Zibres received a telegram from Ray Kieler, Erickson's stepson, ordering that the body be prepared for burial, and saying that Kieler will be here tomorrow. Several physicians held a post-morten examination today and determined that the man came to his death in the manner above stated. The remains of Mr. Erickson were brought to Cherokee on Tuesday evening by Burt Cobb and taken to the home of Judy [sic] Farr, from where the funeral occured at 10 o'clock yesterday morning.
