KILROY A requiem mass will be held in the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church for Martin Francis Kilroy, 76, 424 Greene Street, Cumberland, Maryland, who died suddenly Saturday, September 29, 1945 at his home. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Born at Elk Garden, West Virginia, Mr. Kilroy was a son of the late Thomas and Bridget (Rowan) Kilroy. He came to Cumberland in 1913 from Meyersdale, Pennsylvania and worked a few years for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad before accepting employment in the car repair shops of the Western Maryland Railway. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Born at Elk Garden, West Virginia, Mr. Kilroy was a son of the late Thomas and Bridget (Rowan) Kilroy. He came to Cumberland in 1913 from Meyersdale, Pennsylvania and worked a few years for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad before accepting employment in the car repair shops of the Western Maryland Railway. In 1922 Mr. Kilroy left the Western Maryland and went to work at the Celanese Plant where he was employed until his retirement in June of this year. Known as "Daddler" and "Pop," Mr. Kilroy had many friends on the West Side. His Irish wit and humor were equally well known. Mr. Kilroy was a member of the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and Local 1874, Textile Workers Union of America. Besides his widow, Mrs. Fannie (Kelly) Kilroy, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Leona Ford, three sons, Edward Kilroy, Staff Sergeant, Hugh Kilroy and Corporal John Kilroy, all of Cumberland. One brother, Bartley Kilroy, Cumberland; a sister, Mrs. George Middleton, Keyser, West Virginia, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
