Description	:	Martin F. Janssen, 79, of Hastings died on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at home. Martin was born on Dec. 1, 1930, in Inland to Henry and Ollie (Hinrikus) Janssen. Martin married Beverly Burns in 1955. He married Lorene (Frank) Shimek on July 23, 1988, in Hastings. Survivors are: wife, Lorene; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Lois Janssen of Hastings; daughter, Patricia Lundell of Hastings; stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law, Jeff and Linda Shimek of Garland and Steve Shimek of Agoura Hills, Calif.; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Jennifer and Jim Smith of Lincoln; sister, Berdina Johnson of Hastings; sister-in-law, Martha Janssen of Hastings; 15 grandchildren;... Survivors are: wife, Lorene; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Lois Janssen of Hastings; daughter, Patricia Lundell of Hastings; stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law, Jeff and Linda Shimek of Garland and Steve Shimek of Agoura Hills, Calif.; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Jennifer and Jim Smith of Lincoln; sister, Berdina Johnson of Hastings; sister-in-law, Martha Janssen of Hastings; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. Martin attended country grade school and Hastings High School. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for the past 23 years. Martin served in the Korean War with the 5th Army Field Artillery Unit from 1951 to 1953. He and Beverly had two children and later divorced. He farmed for a short time and then was employed as an auto body man and body shop manager for 50 years. He was the owner of Janssen Auto Body for the last 28 years. Martin enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, animals and taking his car to car shows. Martin was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Raymond Janssen.
