Description	:	Grandson of Mary McPherson. BURROUGHS, MARTIN L.—Martin L. Burroughs was born to Lee Burroughs and Mable Whitman Burroughs on March 7, 1914. His mother was a native of Ohiowa. He passed away June 30, 1999, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Geneva at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 23 days. He was one of three children in the family. He passed away June 30, 1999, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Geneva at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 23 days. He was one of three children in the family. Following his parents’ marriage, the family lived in Clayton, Kan., where Martin’s father passed away in 1915. His mother returned to Nebraska and lived in Geneva, where Martin grew up. He attended school through the seventh grade and later worked as a projectionist at the Rialto Theater. He continued to live with his mother until her health required she go to a nursing home. Martin also worked as a janitor for several years for a local café and for Gambles Store in Geneva. He entered Heritage in February of 1988, where he remained until his death. Martin was a very friendly person who loved to visit with those who came to heritage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Mable Burroughs; an infant brother, and sister, Carrie Bassett. He is survived by four nieces and one great-nephew. Graveside services were held at the Geneva Public Cemetery on Friday, July 2, 1999. The Nebraska Signal July 14th,1999 page 4.
