She was born on February 12, 1920 to Dwight and Ruth Ridenour Black in West College Corner. In 1938 she graduated from Union High School and was married to James A. Kamp Sr. in June. For many years, Marvel worked as a clerk at Bartel's Hoosier Store in Richmond and Woodruff's Grocery in Liberty. Read More	Marvel Louise Black Kamp, 89, of Oxford and formerly of Liberty, died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was born on February 12, 1920 to Dwight and Ruth Ridenour Black in West College Corner. In 1938 she graduated from Union High School and was married to James A. Kamp Sr. in June. For many years, Marvel worked as a clerk at Bartel's Hoosier Store in Richmond and Woodruff's Grocery in Liberty. In 1990, she retired from South View Courts and began volunteering at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital. Marvel was a Past Matron of Violet Chapter #218 Order of the Eastern Star and had been active in the Richmond Emmaus Community. Over the years, she had been the loving owner of many Dachshund dogs. She was an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Liberty, and enjoyed the fellowship of the Presbyterian Women's Society. Marvel is survived by three children and their spouses: Patsy and Jesse Sellers of Liberty; Peggy Seeley and Bill Rodgers of Great Falls, Montana; and James Jr. and Jane Kamp of Columbus; five grandchildren and their spouses: Karyn and Dondee Clevenger of Indianapolis; Melissa and Greg Davis of Liberty; Jennifer and Kevin Rankin of Portland, Oregon; Julia and Brian Cross of Greenwood, Tracy and Jonas Stevens of Whiteland, 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three siblings: Curtis "Bud" Black, Pauline Paddock, and Beulah Jowdy; two infant grandchildren: Melinda Sellers and Russell Seeley. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in College Corner Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Liberty or to the Knolls of Oxford.
