Description	:	Marvin "Rocky" Dean Smith, age 92, was born May 25, 1929, in rural Bremer County, Iowa, a son of Clark and Rose (Gallmeyer) Smith. He passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Waverly Heath Center in Waverly, Iowa, of natural causes. In August 1951, Rocky enlisted in the United States Army where he served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Korea as a part of the infantry unit and received the Combat Infantry Badge during his service. On August 25, 1952, Rocky married Lois Lucille Hites. Rocky worked for Oliver Tractor Factory in Charles City, for many years, and later drove gravel and concrete truck. He enjoyed making and selling lawn ornaments, tinkering, wood working, singing, playing guitar and various instruments. He especially loved to ride bike and spend time with his grandchildren. Rocky was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. Rocky is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois Smith; two brothers: Lawrence Smith and LaVerne Smith; and one sister, Emma Smith. Two sons: Travis (Shirley) Smith of Clarksville, Iowa and Darwin Smith of Clarksville, Iowa; four grandchildren: Rodney (Jody) Smith, Kimberly Smith (special friend Tom Ogle), Sarah Wadey, and Melissa Spillers "Smith"; four great-grandchildren: Skyler Smith, Alexandria Smith, Caleb Wadey and Alizah Wadey; and one sister, Norma Izer of Waterloo, Iowa, remain. Redman Funeral & Cremation Services, in Clarksville, is in charge of services.
