Description	:	Marvin Emil Babel, the son of Charles and Veda (Hansen) Babel, was born at Grand Island, Nebraska, on February 6, 1924, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 5, 1991 at the age of 67 years, 3 months, and 29 days. After his birth he lived at Archer, until age 4, when his mother re-married after the death of her husband, and the family moved to Arcadia, where he attended school. Read More	Marvin Emil Babel, the son of Charles and Veda (Hansen) Babel, was born at Grand Island, Nebraska, on February 6, 1924, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 5, 1991 at the age of 67 years, 3 months, and 29 days. After his birth he lived at Archer, until age 4, when his mother re-married after the death of her husband, and the family moved to Arcadia, where he attended school. His parents then moved to Shelton where he graduated from High School in 1943. He worked in Shelton and the Kearney areas after graduation. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy, from February 23, 1944 to June 4, 1946. After his discharge, he worked for the Nebraska Wild Life Service in the Halsey Park area. Later he worked at Associated Colleges of Upper New York, and also worked for Allmand Brothers at Holdrege. On October 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Shirley Lindstrom at Holdrege. They moved to Chicago, where Marvin worked for a plastics molding company. They then returned to Nebraska and he worked at the Cornhusker Ardinance Plant, and also was employed by Browns Auto Supply, and later Thomson Auto Supply in Grand Island. On April 19, 1961, they moved to Aurora, and Marvin and his partner opened J & M Engine & Machine Shop. When his partner was called into active military service he purchased the business, which was then called Marv's Engine Machine Shop, a business which he operated for 30 years in Aurora. Marvin was an active member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and served as an usher and was on the administrative board. He was also a former Lion's Club Member, and had belonged to the Aurora Chamber of Commerce for 30 years. Marvin enjoyed the outdoors, working in his garden, and attending auctions and collecting. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father Harry DeLano. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley of Aurora; one son Larry of Scottsdale, Arizona; 2 daughters, Cheryl Mills of Aurora, and Marla Babel of Grand Island; 3 brothers, Bill of Kearney, Ron of Wood River, and Calvin DeLano of Jerusalem, Israel. 3 sisters, Jocelyn Kimberling of Evansville, Indiana, Mattie Soukop of Grand Island, and Arta DeLano of Spring Valley, New York; 6 grnadchildren, Tara Molly, Bowen, and Lucas Mills, and Joshua and Cory Babel.
