Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Burial will be prior to the service today in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. Mr. Vermeer was born July 11, 1925, in Sioux Center, to Jacob and Henrietta (Nieman) Vermeer. He graduated from Sioux Center Christian School. On Feb. 26, 1948, he married Gladys Bartels. She preceded him in death in June 1975. He was united in marriage to Loretta (Vande Vegte) De Roon on Jan. 30, 1981. He farmed for many years and, in 1991, moved into Sioux Center. He then drove truck and worked for Noble Labs. He was a member of First Reformed Church. He served on the board of directors for Harmony Home in Orange City, Iowa, and Florence Crittenton Home in Sioux City. He was preceded in death by an infant son, three brothers and a sister.
