He had been a resident of Des Moines for the past 20 years. The son of John and Flora Ann Johnson, he was born in Mercer county, Missouri, March 26, 1892. Two brothers, Richard Johnson of Creston and Wiliam Johnson of Ottumwa, and one sister, Mrs Louise Lindquist, Ottumwa, also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Merle [sic] Johnson, in 1934, and one daughter, who died in infancy. His father died in 1893 and his mother, November 9, 1945, while one brother, Clifford, also preceded him in death. (Montie) Johnson of Des Moines, former Ottumwan, who died at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines Monday, will be held here at the Johnson funeral chapel at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in charge of the Rev. Thurman Bowen. Burial will be made in Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hallie Meeker, George Erb, Lt. Eddie Thomas, Neal Woolman and Verlin Johnson. (Only five pallbearers named.) Included among the survivors is Mrs. Louise Lindquist of Ottumwa.
