Description	:	Marvin Lyle Bouwens, 67, of Exeter, formerly of Beaver Crossing, died Monday, October 31, 2005, at the Exeter Care Center. Marvin was born October 9, 1938, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Henry & Fern (Smith) Bouwens, the youngest of two children. As a young man, he attended Lincoln Public Schools and later he and his family moved to Denver where his parents worked at Continental Bakery. He was discharged in 1960, and eventually moved... Read More	Marvin Lyle Bouwens, 67, of Exeter, formerly of Beaver Crossing, died Monday, October 31, 2005, at the Exeter Care Center. Marvin was born October 9, 1938, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Henry & Fern (Smith) Bouwens, the youngest of two children. As a young man, he attended Lincoln Public Schools and later he and his family moved to Denver where his parents worked at Continental Bakery. On September 25, 1958, he enlisted into the US Air Force where he was a pilot flying helicopters. He also served in the Pacific on reconnaissance missions. He was discharged in 1960, and eventually moved back to Denver where he drove a truck, hauling material for a disposal company. In 1975, he was married to Carolyn Clark Smetter. Marvin was employed with Grantzki Grain Company, hauling grain to various places. He later worked for Ables Contraction of Lincoln before driving a truck over the road for Seward Motor Freight for over 17 years. On November 26, 1996, he was united in marriage to Georgia Adolf in Roy, Washington. In his retirement, Marvin enjoyed fishing, camping, as well as doing leather work. In addition, he enjoyed talking and listening on his CB Radio, where his handle name was known as "Dog-eater". He always liked tinkering with things, including electrical items, and was often seen helping others in town with their odd jobs. Marvin was a very imaginative person, and was always sociable. Survivors include his wife, Georgia, Fairmont, his son, Johnny, Santa Rosa, CA, daughter, Candy Bouwens, Astoria, OR, stepsons, Kent and Sandra Smetter and Jeff Smetter, all of Beaver Crossing, five step grandchildren, Joseph, Mindy, Jennifer and Audrey Smetter, all of Beaver Crossing, Ash WoundedArrow, Hays Springs, NE, and several nieces. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Marilyn Engel. Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2005, at Beaver Crossing Cemetery, Beaver Crossing. No viewing, cremation. Memorials have been established to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Nebraska or to the St Jude's Hospital.
