Marvin Patrick Henry Umbach was born November 19, 1920, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, to Carl and Ethel (Murphy) Umbach, and came to Anthon with his parents at age one year. He married Evelyn White February 18, 1947, in Anthon. He owned and operated Pork's Market grocery store in Anthon for 23 years, retiring in 1977 because of poor health. He was an army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McNiff Post #389, American Legion of Anthon, VFW Post 9124 of Oto, past member of the Volunteer Fire Dept. and Community Club of Anthon. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Thomas of Anthon and Edward of Oakland, California, six daughters, Mrs. Gary (Janice) Adkins of Oto, Mrs. Leonard (Carla) Handke, Mrs. Wayne (Diane) Fundermann, Miss Sheila and Miss Becky all of Anthon, and Mrs. Steve (Marilyn) Horton of Sioux City, two brothers, Raphael of Thornton, California, and Michael of Miami, Florida, and seventeen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
