He married Nancy Oldfather on October 23, 1965 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Evansdale. Marvin served in the United States Army. and was employed with Youngblut Construction for forty years. Preceded in death by: five brothers, Earl, Norman, Harry, Ronnie, and Elmer Schares. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in Sancta Maria Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Full military rites will be conducted by the Gilbertville American Legion Nugent Demuth Post 714, assisted by the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, August 20, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, where there will be a 3 p.m. rosary. Visitation also one hour prior to services Monday at the church. The casket will be closed at church. Memorials: may be directed to the family. Marv loved watching the Cubs, Vikings, and old westerns.
