Fiesterman A resident of this area 76 years, Mrs. Mary Fiesterman, died Thursday [December 7, 1961] at the Orr Memorial Nursing home in Lewellen. Her age at death was 88 years 8 months and 28 days [editor: this equates to a birth date of March 9, 1873]. She had lived in the immediate area of Garden county or in Garden county the past 76 years. She had been ill for the last few weeks at the nursing. home in Lewellen. She was born Mary Ashberger in Waterloo, Iowa, April 9, 1873, the daughter of Gottlieb and Anna Ashberger. She was one of five children born to the couple, her parents and all her brothers and sisters preceding her in death. At an early age she moved with her parents to Cairo, Nebraska, and remained there with them. When she was 12 she moved to Lakeside, making her home there several years. In young womanhood, she was united in marriage with William Fiesterman at Hyannis. They resided in the Velma and Rackett communities and [editor: illegible] years she has lived in or near Oshkosh. Mr. Fiesterman preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Mack A. and Benjamin D., both of Oshkosh; three daughters Mabel, Mrs. William Clear, and Minnie, Mrs. Floyd Peterson, both of Oshkosh, and Emma, Mrs. Floyd Bandy of Biddle, Montana; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon in the Wright Funeral home with Rev. Truman Bachenberg officiating. Interment was in Ash Hollow cemetery at Lewellen. Vocal music for the final rites was provided by Mrs. Robert McCord with Miss Kathy Dunn as organist. Pallbearers were Earl Wilson, Ted Waltman, Learl Sutphen, Dean Emerson, Bernie Tippetts and Ronald McConkey.
