Weaver, who had lived in the Oakland community all her life, passed away unexpectedly last Sunday afternoon, May 2, at the M.E. hospital in Omaha, at the age of 54 years, 10 months and 28 days. She had submitted to an operation on Wednesday and her death occurred four days later, as a shock to her many friends. A daughter of pioneer parents, Mary Aquila Hansen was born on the Robert Hansen homestead between Oakland and Lyons June 4, 1882. Her parents, Robert and Sophie Hansen, both born in Denmark, experienced all the hardships of pioneer life and were persons of prominence in the early life of the community. Mr. Hansen represented Burt county in the state legislature in 1879. She grew up in this community and on Dec. 26, 1906, she was married to Jesse C. Weaver by Rev. Chas. Lange in her mother's home in Oakland. Since their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Weaver had lived on the farm east of Oakland, with the exception of a few years' residence in town. To them were born three children, all of whom survive their mother. A faithful Christian, Mrs. Weaver early became a member of the First Methodist church in Oakland. She was an unusually fine mother, and her cheerful disposition and wholesome character won for her many steadfast friends. This friendship was evidenced in the large attendance at the funeral services. Surviving Mrs. Weaver are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Lester Trout (Bernice) and Blanche; one son, Warren; four brothers, Silas Hansen of Thursten, George Hansen of Newcastle, Robert Hansen of Denver, Colo., and Harry Hansen of Saskatchewan, Canada; three sisters, Mrs. Claire Gunder of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Anna Burns and Miss Katherine Hansen of Oakland; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the First Methodist Church, with Rev. T.W. Parkin officiating. A solo, "In the Garden," Mrs. Weaver's favorite song, was sung by Miss Geneve Palmquist, and a quartet composed of Leslie Nelson, Thomas Parkin, James Sommers and Vernon Swanson sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me". Burial, in charge of Palmquists, was made in the Lyons cemetery. Pallbearers were Gus Peterson, A.C. Holmquist, Jr., Alvin Erickson, Verdo Johnson, John A. Swanson, and Henry Preston of Wayne. Out of town persons present at the funeral were Mrs. J.J. McCoy and Gladeis Weaver of Eldon, Mo.; Robert Hansen of Denver, Colo.; Sara and Bonnie B. Hennessey of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Anna Atkinson and Dorothy Atkinson of Jefferson City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Silas Hansen, Leonard, Donald and Marjorie, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Swanson of Thurston; Victor Weaver, Earling Weaver, Weldon Weaver, E.E. Leonard and Dorothy Weaver of Wakefield; Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Preston, Mrs. Anna L. Davis and Harold Preston of Wayne; Mrs. J.V. Amick and Sharon, Mr. and Mrs. George Hanson and Victor Beyeler of Newcastle; Lloyd Hanson of Maskell; Mrs. R.F. Hegert of Hartington; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hansen of Bancroft; Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Toxword, Mrs. Lola Kelley and James A. Kelso of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hansen of Lyons; Mr. and Mrs. C.X. Hansen of Blair, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Wulf of Herman, and Thomas Hansen of Rosalie.
