Hanson, who has been taking treatment at the Lincoln asylum for some time, died at that place Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The remains were brought to his house, five miles north of here the following day. The funeral took place today from the home, interment being at the Lyons cemetery. Robert Hanson was born in Nestich, Sjelland, Denmark, Dec. 7, 1841, [sic] and emigrated to America in 1863, settling first in Racine, Wis., afterwards in Michigan and a short stay in the south, where he worked at the carpenter trade. In 1867 he came to Burt county, taking his present homestead here, where he and his family have resided ever since. Since that time he has been adding to the original homestead until he owned a farm of 420 acres of well-improved land. He represented Burt county in the legislature in 1879, being elected on the Greenback ticket. He also held other minor offices, and was considered a progressive thinking man and good reliable citizen. In 1870 he was married to Miss Sophie Hanson, of Omaha. Ten children were born as a result of this union, of which nine are now living. Some are residents here and others, elsewhere in this state and in South Dakota. Besides these he leaves a wife and two brothers, Nels and James, both of whom reside here, and a number of other near kinsfolk.
