The death of Mrs. Jacob Probasco took place at a hospital in Topeka, Kansas, Sept. 13, 1913. The remains were brought to this place, arriving Monday morning and taken to the home of her brother, D. B. Elbert, where they rested until the funeral, which occured at the M. E. church in Dunlap at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Services were conducted by Rev. G. A. Conrad, in the absence of the pastor. There was a large attendance of friends and neighbors, especially from their old neighbors, south of town, who turned out enmasse to pay the last sad tribute of respect to their former neighbor. Mary Adeline Elbert was born in Knox county, Ohio, April 21, 1860. She was united in marriage to Jacob Probasco, November 20, 1878. The next year the couple moved to Harrison county, Iowa, and settled in the vicinity of Dunlap, where they lived until Oct. 10, 1911, where they removed to McPherson, Kansas. A short time ago she was taken to the hospital at Topeka for treatment. There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Probasco five children as follows: Mrs. F. W. Reed, of McPherson, Kansas; Mrs. E. F. Bolton, of Dunlap, and Leonard, Elsie and Lola at home. Besides her children and husband she leaves to mourn her loss three brothers and two sisters as follows: Mrs. George Rosenbaugh, D. B. Elbert and John Elbert, of Dunlap; W. E. Elbert, of Mason City, Iowa, and Mrs. Sarah Fateroe, of Cherokee, Iowa. Mrs. Probasco united with the Methodist church about eighteen years ago, and remained a faithful member until death. She was a most estimable woman, beloved by her family and a large number of friends.
