Born February 6, 1921, in Mt. Savage, Md., she was the daughter of the late Richard Francis and Agnes (Barncord) Chaney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, killed in action during World War II, Dolan Samuel Ritchie; two brothers, Richard Francis Chaney and Raymond Chaney; and three sisters, Jean Frances Kelly, Clarabelle C. Savage, Md., she was the daughter of the late Richard Francis and Agnes (Barncord) Chaney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, killed in action during World War II, Dolan Samuel Ritchie; two brothers, Richard Francis Chaney and Raymond Chaney; and three sisters, Jean Frances Kelly, Clarabelle C. Kenney, and Margaret C. Kupfer. Mrs. Ritchie was a 1938 graduate of Bruce High School. She was retired from the H P Clothing Store, having worked at the Piedmont, W.Va., and the LaVale, Md., stores. She was a member of the Victory Unit #155 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Westernport, and a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Westernport. She leaves behind a son, Robert Dolan Ritchie and wife, Judy, of Winchester, Va.; two grandchildren, Robert Dolan Ritchie Jr. and wife, Amber, of Winchester, and Carrie Winters and husband, Robert, of Charlestown, W.Va.; a special sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Chaney of Westernport, whom she lived with for 50 years; her devoted pet, Sam; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Father Manning Smith officiating.
