Born March 4, 1925 in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Richard McGann and Elizabeth Catherine (Nolan) McGann. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stephen Martin; brothers, James, Patrick and Dan McGann; sisters, Anastasia Youngblood and Elizabeth Fair; two great-granddaughters, Macie and Abigail Martin. Read More	CUMBERLAND - Mary Agnes (McGann) Martin, 83, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord, with her family by her side, Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at WMHS-Memorial Campus. Born March 4, 1925 in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Richard McGann and Elizabeth Catherine (Nolan) McGann. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stephen Martin; brothers, James, Patrick and Dan McGann; sisters, Anastasia Youngblood and Elizabeth Fair; two great-granddaughters, Macie and Abigail Martin. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Church Sodality and also a member of the K of C Ladies Auxiliary. Mary lived a long and fulfilling life. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary's greatest enjoyment in life came from the many celebrations she shared with her husband, children and families. Over the years she looked forward to spending Thursdays with her bingo buddies. Mary was blessed with the gift of possessing an exceptional personality. She was known for her selfless and caring nature. Mary always saw the good in everyone. Her strength and strong faith was always evident throughout her life. She raised her children to have strong family values, morals and Catholic faith. Mary was proud of her Irish heritage and she enjoyed her trip to Ireland with her family. Mary will be sadly missed and thought of often by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Surviving are three sons, Stephen Martin and wife Roxanne, Charleston, S.C., Dave Martin and a special daughter-in-law and caregiver Vicki, Cumberland and Greg Martin and wife Debbie, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; four daughters, Cecilia Pittman and husband Bill, Mary Strem and husband Fred, Margaret Wright and husband Michael, all of Cumberland and Paulette Young and husband Eddie, Short Gap, W.Va.; grandchildren, Stephen Martin, David Martin and wife Kathryn, Paul Martin and wife Beth, Eddie Martin, Amy Martin, Cindy Martin, Bobby Aldridge and wife Megan, Amanda Prince and husband Donnell, Josh Pittman, Zachary Pittman, Doug Anders and wife Nikki, Chad Anders, Chris Anders and wife Leslie, Jenny Dunkin and husband Jeff, Chris Strem, Jenna Strem, Caitlin Strem, Megan Wright, Michael Wright Jr., Morgan Kelly, Allyson Young, Sophia Young; and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (scarpellifh.com) on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be conducted at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Friends will also be received at the funeral home on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Friday at 12:30 p.m. with Msgr. Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
