Mary Alice Weston was born February 14, 1867 near Iconium, Iowa and passed away at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kincade near Moravia, Iowa, Thursday, May 12 at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 27 days. She was the daughter of Edward and Minerva Broshar. In 1887 she united in marriage to David McCullich Weston and to this union eleven children were born. Ten of whom survive. Mary Alice Weston was born February 14, 1867 near Iconium, Iowa and passed away at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kincade near Moravia, Iowa, Thursday, May 12 at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 27 days. She was the daughter of Edward and Minerva Broshar. In 1887 she united in marriage to David McCullich Weston and to this union eleven children were born. Ten of whom survive. On February 8, 1946, she was injured in a fall at her home in Moravia and was confined for 8 weeks in the hospital. Since that time she has been a semi-invalid and made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kincade of Moravia, Iowa, who took care of her lovingly. Mrs. Weston was baptized and joined the Christian Church at Walnut City at the age of 16 years where her membership remained during her life time. Grandma Weston, as she was known by, lived a good and faithful Christian life, using her Bible as a guide throughout her life. Grandma Weston loved to piece and quilt quilts for her loved ones and friends. This gave to her many hours of pleasure. She was preceded in death by her father, mother,stepmother, and her husband, who passed away November 30, 1927, also one son, Lewis Ray, who died in 1909, four brothers and five sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing ten children, Edward Weston, Mrs. Mary Peek, Merrill Weston and Mrs. Josephine Ballinger, all of Mystic, Mrs. Rosie Kincade, of Stillwater, Kansas, Mrs. Nadine Carringer and Mrs. Clarence Weston both of Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, David Weston of Centerville and Mrs. Blanche Kincade of Moravia, one sister, Mrs. Dan Kennedy of Mystic. 33 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren besides a host of friends and relatives. You are not dead-life has but set you free! Your years of life were life a lovely song, The last sweet poignant notes of which, held long, Passed into silence while we listened we, Who loved you listen still expectantly!And we about you whom you moved amongWould feel that grief for you were surely wrong-You have but passed beyond where we can see. For us who knew you, dread of age is past! You took life, tiptoe to the very last; It never lost for you its lovely look; You kept your interest in its thrilling book; To you death came no conqueror; in the end- You merely smiled to greet another friend! Funeral services at Turner Funeral Home conducted by Wauneita McConnell. Songs were "Goodnight and Good Morning." "Going Down the Valley" Singers were Nadine Winsler and Eva Firkins accompanied by Pearl Black. In care of flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lathen and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Hamilton. Pallbearers were grandsons, Dwight Kincade, Francis Kincade, Larry Weston, Paul Kincade, Billie Hamilton and Delbert Weston.
