| Description | : | She loved the Shiloh community but "hard times" sent many of the area families to Columbia looking for work in the cotton mills during the mid-1920's. The family lived in the Olympia area and raised their children in the Methodist faith, loving the old hymns and singing praises through every joy and difficulty of life. There were 10 children born to Whiteford and Mary Alice.
