Mrs. Orr was some years ago, a resident of Hazel Green. She leaves seven sons and one daughter to mourn their loss, all present at the service except one, Joseph and David coming from Colorado and Montana where they located some years ago. Ref: 3 Mar. 1908, Manchester Press, Manchester, IA -- Hazel Green -- The funeral of Mrs. Samuel Orr, a former resident of Hazel Green, was held at the Golden Church last week Tuesday afternoon. Her home for the past few years had been at Coggon, and the Presbyterian minister at that place officiated at the funeral. Besides her immediate family, relatives from Cedar Rapids were present, also friends of previous years from this vicinity. Ref: 3 Mar. 1908, Manchester Press, Manchester, IA - Orr - At her home in Coggon, February 22, 1908, Mrs. Anna Orr, aged 77 years, formerly of Delaware County. Interment at Golden. Ref: Mrs. McElwain -- Some notes about Samuel & Mary Ann (Allison) Orr most of which were obtained from Mrs. McElwain -- Samuel and Mary Ann were married on 24 Sep. 1854, Philadelphia, PA at the Union Presbyterian Church, Rev. McGill conducted the ceremony. The Union Presbyterian Church orginal marriage record book (1842-1890) was checked at the Presbyterian Historical Society, 4th and Lombard St., Philadelphia, PA - On 24 July or January 1854, there is a marriage record for one Samuel Orr to Mary Ann Alison (sic). (This is a different date than given by Ms. McElwain but I feel sure this is our Samuel and Mary Ann. There could have been an application for marriage, a late recording etc.) Mary Ann was a tailor in Philadelphia. She came from Londonderry, Ireland. Mary Ann's sister was a Brown. Mary Ann also had a sister or Aunt called Tilly Allison who came to the U. S. about 1860 to 1880 and went back.
