The Clarence Courier, Clarence, Missouri, 15 Jun 1910, Wed • Page 5, Column 6 Mrs. Mary A. Stalcup Dead. Mrs. Mary A. Stalcup died at the home of her son, George Stalcup, near Lentner, last Friday. The funeral was held at the house Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. N. Boyd. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery. Deceased's maiden name was Byars. She was born in Virginia 74 years ago and came to this county with her parents in 1836. In 1854 she married James Stalcup, who preceded her in death many years ago, having died in 1865. Five children were born to this union, two of whom survive. They are well known citizens, George Stalcup, near Lentner, and William Stalcup, of Clarence. One daughter died in infancy, one when about 14 and the other became Mrs. James Way, who died in 1886. "Aunt Mary," as she was familiarly known by her friende, was an excellent woman and a devoted mother. She has passed into rest and is now enjoying her eternal reward.
